Size: 48 oz

Color:   AMBER

Closure:   original glass lid and original cast iron yoke clamp with thumbscrew

Appearance:  sparkling glass

Condition:  Excellent including a perfect applied lip and perfect lid. Has a wide drip of extra glass that runs down inside the neck, which was a result of the crude early manufacturing process, and which has a couple of fish-eye type separations within this drip (see final pic).

Embossing: strong

Base: unmarked

Age: late 1800's

Availability:  Rare. The original discovery of theses jars consisted of about 12 examples, discovered during the clean out of a residence in Milwaukee, Wisconsin many years ago. The former occupant had been a homeopathic physician, who had presumably special-ordered these in amber from Whitall-Tatum Company for use in his medicinal business in the late 1800's. This one is a fine example in excellent condition.
