Description

Size:  2-1/2 GALLONS approximate (about 16-3/4" overall height)

Color:  AQUAMARINE

Closure:  Original massive glass lid with extra-heavy original iron wire clamp.

Appearance:  sparkling glass with a light whittled effect

Condition:  The ground mouth is rather rough, perhaps partly or wholly in the making, as the size of this item would have been a challenge to the glass blower. Also has two partially open bubbles as depicted. Overall the jar is very impressive on display and looks great.

Embossing:  very strong

Base:  a small 5-pointed star

Age:  c1876

Availability:  An extremely rare oversize jar, possibly made for display at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876.
