Closure:  original white milk glass insert and original metal screw band (nibbles out of the lower edge of the metal, as shown)

Appearance:  good

Condition:  jar and insert have no damage

Embossing:  lid only

Base:  "R1" embossed backwards

Age:  late 1800's
