Size: QUART
Color: AMBER
Closure: original cast iron yoke clamp with thumbscrew and original wrap-around wire clamp and original amber glass lid (a chip at the edge of the center dimple pedestal of the lid)
Appearance: sparkling glass with a nice light whittled effect, trace of content haze
Condition: a short j-shaped crack in the shoulder, as shown, which is scarcely visible at a glance
Embossing: strong
Base: "17"
Age: 1880's
Availability: Extremely rare....only two other amber examples are known, both in private collections. Probably made at the East Stroudsburg Glass Co in East Stroudsburg, PA. The jar is typically found only in standard aquamarine colored glass. It is unknown why a few amber jars were made, although their production was likely intentional and possibly for a customer order, since matching amber lids were also pressed. Here's a rare chance to own one of the most iconic and beautiful fruit jars in existence.
