A half gallon HOLT-LYON mixer jar with original hardware and jar. The cast iron mixer assembly is mounted to an aluminum cap that threads onto the mouth of the jar. The jar has shiny clean glass with strong embossing and no damage or stains other than the usual flaking of the ground lip. The jar is embossed on the front "SANETY WIDE MOUTH MASON SALEM GLASS WORKS SALEM NJ" and on the back "HOLTS JAR CREAM WHIPS HOLT-LYON Co TARRYTOWN NY". The base is unmarked. The cast iron mixer wheel is impressed "HOLTS EGG BEATER PAT AUG 22 1899". The mixer apparatus is in working order. Quite rare in this large size, with only a few examples known.
