Size:  HALF GALLON

Color:  AQUAMARINE

Closure:  original metal cap and heavy iron wire clamp (oxidation and losses as shown)

Appearance:  sparkling glass

Condition:  no damage including a good ground lip with very little flaking

Embossing:  strong

Base: "PATd MAR 10th 1868" encircling a "2"

Age:  c1870

Availability:  a scarce early jar and a sharp example
